Configuring Session Arbiter

Ignoring RDS policy settings

If you already have Group Policy settings configured for Remote Desktop Services, but want those settings to be ignored in favour of registry settings, specify the following:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SessionArbiter\Parameters
    DWORD: IgnorePolicy

Specify 1 to have Session Arbiter ignore any RDS policy settings. Omit the value or specify 0 to allow RDS policy settings to be used.

Changing the default check period

By default Session Arbiter will check for changes to policy or configuration settings either immediately before checking on the status of each session (which varies according to the configured limits), or every 15 minutes, whichever is shorter. If you have long limits but still want to check for configuration changes more often than every 15 minutes, you can alter this using the following:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SessionArbiter\Parameters
    DWORD: CheckPeriod

Set this value to the number of milliseconds between each check. The minimum value is 60000 ms (1 minute). If you specify a value less than this, it will be ignored.
